We were in the Grove Ridge house for four years before we formalized the guest room. Prior to that, all we did was take out the door to the closet. Basically, the location of said door severely limited where we could place furniture in the room. The closet itself was super awkward and wasted so much space. Here's the layout. Walls are up!!!! As a reminder, here is what we started with. Open space with nothing but extra heating and cooling costs. Then we added the floor. This was such a huge transformation and went up so much faster than I realized that it would. We added windows so we could legally call this room a "bedroom", and took windows out. So here are the plans for the Grove Ridge remodel. We will be renovating the shared bathroom, the loft area and adding square footage by capping the open space. Once we got started, it all went pretty fast. We got keys at the end of March, and about five weeks later these pictures show a drastic change in the space. As the floor went in, we were so excited to see the walls going up, and the windows coming out. Before, the expansive waste of space. When we had two small bedrooms for them, we swapped every two years so no one ever had the privilege or the chore of being alone for more than 730 days (give or take). So I have given a before tour of the Grove Ridge house (upstairs and downstairs). I thought I would share why we got this house. It is for one simple reason...the backyard. Last week we had a look at the downstairs of our new (to us) house. Here's a look at all of the before of our upstairs spaces. First up, the hall.
